One of the first things that a couple getting married in Greece is thinking is at what time they should start their wedding ceremony. Of course, a wedding can't always start the "perfect sunlight hours" for many reasons, and this doesn't mean it will be less beautiful or less emotional. However, having a lot of experience, we are here to inform you about the ideal hour. Note that each season the daytime changes, so we have to keep track of the natural light according to the time of the year.
In our opinion, the best time to plan your wedding is 2 to 3 hours before the sunset. The biggest pro's of that are having people & the environment illuminated in the most beautiful way, without any harsh contrasts. While you walk down the aisle, the ceremony and your portrait sessions will be phenomenal!
So for a Summer Wedding in Greece, 6.30 pm or 4.30 pm (depending on the exact month) are the ideal hours to plan your ceremony.
Most Destination Weddings in Greece take place much earlier in the day, for the reason that most couples want to have more time to enjoy their day, and during this time the light is very hard on faces & the landscape around, thus making you dress, your flowers and all your wedding elements look not that great, and less flattering that they really are. Another important factor is that the heat is stronger at an earlier ceremony. But as photographers, we have to say that late afternoon photos will be magical, compared to an early afternoon wedding.
